This 1964 Ford Falcon 2 door wagon found on Ebay was recently driven from LA to Saint Louis on route 66. A nice voyage for a survivor that had spent the previous 10 years in a garage before being resurrected through an estate sale. With a 200 straight six and three-on-the tree manual transmission the economical Falcon averaged 28 mpg. The trip wasn’t without incident as the adventurous couple who made the trip had some overheating issues, but these have been resolved by adding a new radiator, water pump and thermostatically controlled radiator fan.
A cool feature on this Falcon is the original longhorn cattle motif seat fabric that looks to be in fantastic shape. The chrome roof rack and dogdish hubcaps are also a nice touch.

Update 3/7/2012: Car sold for $6,400
Cool car. I saw it for sale at bring a trailer for 7,000 last Spring. They must have bought it just for the Route 66 trip- not a bad idea. Maybe I’ll but it and drive it back to CA!
My first car was a red 64 170 slant 6 automatic purchased for $5 from a neighbor in 75. Put on wide low profle alloy wheels jacked the back, a hippie curtain as a headliner. It looked like it actually could move on the Asbury Park circuit, but it didn’t. On the other hand I couldn’t kill it nor it me. Anything over 65 was hair raising. Still think I’ll get one some day, but for now its all about getting the lads through college. We can all dream.
this car is AWFUL ,, first of all im a lexus//acura guy ,i test drove this car last week coz one of my friends engrcuaoed me to take a look at this new ford mustang and i have to say that this car handles like a prehistoric car just like the body styling look,, it only handles good on a straight line but that doesn’t give any exception coz all brand new vehicles these days handle great on a straight line
I love these wagons ! The body looks very straight, I’d really like to see the floor and rocker panels. I can only hope, wish, and pray to find as nice of a second generation Falcon wagon as this…..well when mt wife says OK . Sweet wagon !!
