Called the ‘first wide small car’ the AMC Pacer along with the Gremlin have been the butt of jokes since their inception. Egg on wheels, fishbowl, hamster mobile, bubble car were just afew of the taunts directed at the Pacer. Check any ‘worst car list’ and these maligned AMC’s are always in the mix. Well, the Pacer may have the last laugh. The last few years has seen a surge in interest in these odd little 70’s machines highlighted by the sale of the ‘Wayne’s World’ Pacer for an astonishing $37,400.
This Pacer wagon is actually more conventional looking than the more bulbous Pacer sedans. The owner says he has invested over $17,000 into the car including many new mechanical parts and a new interior from SMS. The Pacer also includes some rare options including a rear glass washer and wiper and front vent windows. The car was also repainted in 2011 and has picked up a few scratches since then. Listed on Hemmings in San Diego for $11,750 firm. Compare the price to this extremely nice Pacer that sold in 2011 for $4,300 and you can see that these have turned out to be nice investments.
