This 1961 Chevrolet Parkwood was originally a California car that ended up sitting in the Arizona desert for at least 20 years before being rescued by the current owner. The dry climate was kind to to the Parkwood’s body but the windows were apparently left open while sitting in Arizona leaving the interior dry and dusty. The owner has done a nice amount of work to get the car roadworthy and it is said to run well with some issues that will need to be addressed. When Chevrolet introduced the Corvair in late 1959 it was an immediate success and within a couple of years there were a number of Corvair models available including a  nice lineupof work trucks and vans but the Corvair station wagon never really took off with wagons only being offered for 1961-62. Nearly 26,000 wagon were built for 1961 a nice number but still a fraction of what Ford was selling with the Falcon wagons. In 1962 there were only around 6,000 Corvair wagons built and the wagons fate was sealed.

This 1961 Corvair 500 station wagon was the entry level wagon offered but has been restored with many 1962 Monza features. The restoration was extensive and well documented making this one of the nicest Corvair wagons you’ll ever find. You can find it on Ebay in Delaware with a BIN of $18,500.

After many years in storage this 1959 Kingswood has been resurrected and is looking for a new owner. There’s plenty to like about this wagon beginning with the fact that it looks to be very original and intact. The list of options is impressive beginning with a numbers matching 348 mated with a turboglide transmission, 3rd row seating, power steering, padded dash. two speed wipers, a functioning power rear window and a rare and complete luggage rack. Found on Ebay in Santa Rosa, California the starting bidding was at $15,200 with the reserve unmet on the first day of the auction posting.

With good styling and economy during a period of rising oil prices gas shortages, Chevy Vegas were very popular in the 70’s but it didn’t take long for quality and rust issues to doom the Vega. Fitted with an inline 4, performance wasn’t impressive unless you went with the Cogsworth option that was offered for a few years.

The previous owner of this Kammback GT Vega which is listed on Craigslist near Salem, Oregon at a price of $12,000 embarked on an extensive project 16 years ago to research and convert the Vega to a V8. Ultimately a 1996 Z-28 350c.i. V8 was fitted along with loads of performance features that were documented in a 32 page portfolio.

This 1964 Chevrolet Biscayne found on Ebay with a BIN of $14,500 is powered by a 230ci 6 cylinder engine and a 3 on the tree manual transmission which seems like the fitting powerplant for Chevrolet’s entry level full size car. With the wagon adding close to an additional 500 pounds over the sedan, and no power options the new owner is sure to get a good workout in especially if parallel parking is required. The seller states the there are just 43,000 original miles on the car and that the paint is mostly original. It is said to run well with the exception of a whine that he believes may be the throw out bearing.

Having been toted around in one of these as a kid I have a special appreciation for a 70’s clamshell wagon. Just seeing the pictures of this Ebay find 1973 Impala, brings me back inside the spacious interior where I found refuge from my annoying older sisters by claiming the third seat as my own- an especially nice feature on family vacations.

This one doesn’t have the 9 passenger seating, but it does come with a 454 V8, great for power but not so great with the mileage. One has to wonder if the original purchaser had buyers remorse when just 3 months after purchasing this massive wagon the oil embargo hit and gas became expensive and scarce.

The seller doesn’t give a lot of details about the car other than it’s a former AACA Original Class winner,  is matching numbers and has a nice list of options including air conditioning, full power, cruise and an AM 8 track player. The car is said to run and drive great. Mileage is listed at 99,117 but a look at the paperwork shows that the odometer had hit 109,684 back in 1978.
